Going to San Antonio, TX for a work conference from April 19th-22nd. Anything I should try to see/do/eat in the evenings when I don't have to attend a bunch of SEMINARS and presentations.

In my brief excursion to San Antonio I did the following. 1. Alamo - About as exciting as the reception room of the rental car outlet of the same name. 2. River walk by night. - Bougie restaurants, bars, and a artificial "canal" that looks kind of like the Vegas Venetian hotel. 3. Famous SA Breakfast Tacos - Solid....but it's a breakfast taco.
There must be something better, but I thought I'd get those out of the way for you. You can also drive to Austin in 1:30, which is like a short drive in TX terms.

Come on up and visit us in Austin. Just an hour and some change up the interstate, or a little longer if you take the scenic route up 281.

Oh man, I really wish I could, I'll be without a rental car (staying at a hotel near the riverwalk where the convention I'm going to is at)!

San Antonio's kinda goofy, but I like it! You have zero idea just how underwhelmed you will be at the Alamo. Couple good spots to chow down at:
Schilo's - Very old school German deli, been around forever. Slightly tourist-trap-y, but very tasty!
Mezquite- In the Pearl area (very easy to get a Lyft from downtown, shouldn't be more than 10 min.) Focus is on Norteno Mexican food and it kicks ass. Maybe the best meal I had all year last year. Definitely at the top.
Con Huevos - Life-changing breakfast tacos.
Two spots I haven't been to:
Best Quality Daughter - Right by Mezquite. Chinese/fusion deal that everyone I know who's eaten there says it's spell-binding.
Boudro's on the Riverwalk - Another classic/"been around forever" deal. They'll make guac at your table, but be warned the river usually smells pretty bad.
Man, I love Texas.

Hell yeah, exactly what I was looking for! Mezquite sounds awesome, definitely will hit that up!

Going to London with my girlfriend in August for my brother's birthday. Would love recommendations on neighborhoods to stay, best used bookstores, dives/pubs, favorite food & restaurants, comic book shops, essential, do-not-miss things to do when you've got a week in London. Would be great to catch a show while we're out there. Aug 14-21. Thanks all.

I haven't been there in 20 years, so I have nothing current to say except grab yourself a copy of the UK magazine "Classic Rock", the gig guide in the back is outstanding.
You can basically see a small to BIG gig every night in LDN if you want to. It's amazing.

Ok, my aforementioned trip to Cabo Verde (aka Cape Verde) is now pretty much booked for April.
Visiting the islands of Santiago, Fogo, Brava, São Vincente, Santo Antão, and São Nicolau.
Anyone? Maybe some of our Euro peeps have been? (B/c I'm pretty sure the forum does not boast many people living in Africa.) Last call...

I have vacation to burn before a deadline so I'm planning some trips in the next five months, San Francisco April 3rd-8th, Charlotte TBD, and Philadelphia TBD. I'm looking for general suggestions for all 3, but any specifics for SF on those dates would be great. I'm going to get tickets for Mary Halvorson on April 3rd and Girls Rituals on April 6th. If anybody wants to meet up while I'm there, I'd love that, we can get a drink someplace, or meet before/at one of the shows.
Specifically, I like tiki bars, good food, modern art, good music, record shops, honestly anything interesting I'd at least consider. Most of my trip is still open except for those shows. I've been before so, some of the big sights I don't need to do again necessarily.
I'll update with dates for Charlotte and Philly when I have them. I'm just waiting on locals to let me know when is the best time to visit for them.
Philly not til July so I'll revisit that later, Charlotte is cancelled for now-- still throwing it out there if anybody wants to grab a drink or say hi in SF while I'm there, or has fun suggestions for April 3rd-8th
