Is that a particularly un-knotty work of pine? I'm terrible at identifying wood. But if it is, know that staining it is likely to result in blotchiness because of how unevenly it absorbs finishing material. It's perfectly possible to do and have minimal blotchiness by conditioning first, but IMO, you either lean into it as pine and danish oil it or spray it cock pink.

Yeah, it's pretty smooth and does not have any knots on it. I will lean into the blotchiness.

#23 is going to be a slow burn- everything about it is weird and difficult. But I spent a lot of time and blew up a dremel getting the body flat and removing tool marks. #22, on the other hand, is coming together nicely. Here is a mockup- still a long way to go, but looking sharp. Doing absolutely everything I can to reduce weight. As it sits we are at 5lbs 4oz. Should come in under 7lbs goals for next week are to settle on a neck shape for #23 and to get the fretboard on and frets installed on #22- maybe some sanding and finishing?

#22 is going well. Fretboard on, frets installed, ends filed. Body is about 1/2 way through finishing, but looking pretty good. #23 is also seeing some progress. Neck is machined down to 11mm flat back profile, once this is cleaned up we're going to do a 22.5 degree bevel. will be tricky and rough milled the back of the receiver.

I can't decided which one yet, but I'm leaning towards Mahogany, Teak, Chestnut or Walnut.

I went with walnut! It felt "irght" to me.

#22 is creeping closer- Final coat on the front of the body, will do one more pass on the edges and back. And the frets are leveled and dressed. Next step is to fit the neck and start w/ mounting the bridge/pickguard. #23- also made some progress- neck is machined to 10mm thickness, w/ 5mm verticle sides and 22.5 degree angle to the flat back. Still some cleanup, but making progress. Getting a string retainer block this week.

Picked this buddy today, looks better than I ever imagined it would. Now just for the 2x12 to be done, and then the amp cabinet in the end.

#22 nearing the finish line- started assembly and have the neck sanded to #2000. The fretboard I used had some dips- sanded flat, but there will be extra fret leveling to compensate any weirdness. Should get assembly done and be able to start setup this week.

#23 sanded the body to #400, got dots on the fretboard and cut to rough width. Will get that mounted tomorrow, then start on a bridge jig.
