I had 3 TL-606 cabs with EV15s in them. I replaced one of them with a Deltalite and had the same experience as you. I will say that I don't remember what the difference is, as I like the sound so much I don't miss the EV at all. Caveat, we use this cab for Synth. Only holding out for someone to be selling some Deltalites to do my other two cabs, but getting pretttty tempted to just spend the $$ as cheap health insuranceGarth wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 1:29 pm This is an odd post that is going to be more of a hot take right now and an actual review later.
So after a long hiatus of cabinet building, I'm putting together a pair of TL-606 for a fellow cultist. Based on info from other cultists here, we chose an Eminence Deltalite speaker to put in one of the two (the other speaker being more of a traditional clone of the classic EVM-15L that most of us are well-acquainted with. This speaker also comes by way of yet another cultist #thisistheway #notacult).
Anyway, I got the Deltalite in the mail already and was shocked at how light it is. It's literally lighter than the packing it came with & that's NOT an exaggeration. This is no surprise to anyone else who's used neo-magnet speakers but I don't think I've ever had one out where it's JUST the speaker. It's usually been a cab with a neo speaker in it (or in the case of PA: speaker, AMP and cab). After years of SVT and 8x10 and 'heavier is better' mentality, this is still an adjustment even though I've known for a while how much lighter cabinets can be w/ modern builds and the lighter speakers.
Once I get the cabs finished I am really eager to do some sound tests and comparisons and the actual review will come back at that time. I think they're on sale right now though so I'm seriously considering buying a pair just to do it. IDK, maybe that's dumb since I barely gig anymore.

442I've been using these for a few weeks now and so far they do the trick. I've been using them on the bottom of the snare as that's where I've had the most issues lately (wtf) and they are well suited for that, unlike top-loading 'blocking' locks held in by gravity.penningtron wrote: Wed Jul 12, 2023 7:23 am That said, I'll give the Tightscrews a shot since [Jake Creggor] hits a Supralite harder than I do.
Just make sure you know what pitch you want to tune to in advance (maybe record what you have in place with a camera phone first) because you can't go by feel with these. They always feel tight: that's why they work.
Re: Micro-reviews of Gear You Just Bought
443I have the Kappalite 15" in a couple cabs. They're a little tighter and less rumbly in the lows than EVM15L. I think I have mixed one Kappalite with one EVM in my two (!) bass rigs. But maybe not. I don't think about it much, unless I'm carrying one, in which case I'm happy to have the Kappalites.TylerDeadPine wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 12:54 pmI had 3 TL-606 cabs with EV15s in them. Verdict: not better than EVs--I will keep my old speakers around--but they're certainly good enough, and it's possible they'll loosen up with time and sound even closer to the EVM benchmark than they do now.
I have a Delta Pro somewhere in something and it's good--I never think about it.
Re: Micro-reviews of Gear You Just Bought
444Since my band turned into a „drum computer group“ I’ve been looking for a device that let’s me playback the programmed drums on possibly more than just one stereo output.
No way I’ll bring a laptop and an interface to a stage!
Finally found that M-live B Beat thing. Pretty much a wav file/mp3 player with 6 balanced outputs. Easy to edit songs via computer. Let’s you arrange all songs to „shows“. It has a video out too, so you could sync videos to songs. You could as well send lyrics/sheet music to your band mates……..
I’ve split the 70ties Drummer in Kontakt into bassdrum, snare and rest of the drums and play them back on outputs 1, 2, 3+4, and use 5+6 for sounds/samples.
Perfect for my needs!

445Got a homer hookup on a Sunn Concert Lead. It's loud in a way only vintage solid state gear can be - There's frequencies there that should be used for torture.
Playing it through a 4x12 with heritage 30s and C12-100s is offensive. Lots of fun.

446That's it exactly - there was a difference, but I couldn't remember it in that it didn't 'feel' like I was missing too much, and I was very happy every time I picked them up. Given ay venue that I play at will ask me to turn down, I'm not sure I ever missed the rumblieseephus wrote: Sat Aug 12, 2023 2:28 pm I have the Kappalite 15" in a couple cabs. Re: Micro-reviews of Gear You Just Bought
447My orange needs tubes and my garnet needs a master volume, so I've been playing through these two traynors for the past few practices and it sounds quite good! The 1x15 is some lower-end ampeg cab, and is a bit farty. But for $550CAD all in (TS50 = $150, TS50B = $400, bass cab = $0), this is a pretty solid sounding rig. I have an old boss PN-2 at the end of my board splitting into the two amps and the panning effect is extremely fun.

448That is awesome - that jamspace looks familiar as well. Are you in the same building that Robin Black & The International Intergalactic Rock Stars used to jam in?mdc wrote: Thu Aug 17, 2023 8:43 am My orange needs tubes and my garnet needs a master volume, so I've been playing through these two traynors for the past few practices and it sounds quite good! 449It's certainly possible - there aren't many rehearsal spots in Toronto. Not sure where they were, but we have a room on Geary.

Yeah I think the one I'm thinking of is gone - rough town for rehearsing. But that's why it looked familiar, my spouse used to jam at the geary space, and shared another spot on Geary with S.H.I.T.
