I've always liked those CXs.
It's weird, I've only ever owned shaft-drive bikes for some reason, not that I ever made a conscious decision to do that. Honda VT500FT and a couple BMW airheads.

This is my first shaft-drive bike- will be a learning curve getting this sorted.
#24- frets are in, so will be doing all the leveling/crowning/profiling this week.
and the body finish is complete. will be rough wiring, tapping and mounting bridge and tuners.

Closing in on the finish for #24. By the end of the day I had a nut rough-slotted and strings on it. A lot of things are right, but a few things still need sorting.
Positives: neck stayed straight under tension, no neck dive, and total weight is under 9 pounds.
Needs addressing: This bridge is taller, so will need to recess it a couple mm. Pickup is too hot (13k)- so will swap in a cooler 9k alternative. Frets will need a second round of leveling under tension. Should be done next week.

#24 is done. Very pleased with how it came out. Very pleased with the weight.
I need to get this moved along- so let me know if anyone needs it.

Good start on the next batch. #25 is an LP, cherry body for a customer
Receiver is rough, but moving along
and #26 is a DC- Ash body - made on spec- let me know if you're interested.
even more rough than #25

#25 Body, getting closer. Had to remove a big piece of the bottom edge and replace with a grain-matching scrap of the same blank.
Rough machining done, finished machining of the headstock done
#26 finished machining of the headstock, while I was tooled up for it. I have a potential custom order tham may utilize this, so I'm in stasis on this one.

Spent most of the week shaping the neck. Another day or two of fussing, then I can move on to attaching the fretboard
And I realize it is very difficult to see the progress on the body, but it is now finalized, sanded to #400 and the control cavity is finalized on the back. Next step is drop filling a couple spots and starting the finish process.

Here we go- Body is starting the finishing process. Should be done by the end of the week.
And the fretboard is on, frets are going in.
I rarely pre-cut my frets, so I've never bothered to make one of these before. But this has stainless steel and is a bound board, so it makes sense to keep them sorted.

Hey folks- Sorry it has been so long. I was on vacation for a couple weeks, then had a kidney stone, then had to get caught up on this build. But here we are, almost done.
Tomorrow I'll try to get the wiring done. Then button up the back plate, slot the nut, set action and intonation, and touch up/polish the inevitable scuffs from set up. Should be done Saturday if all goes well.
Question for you all- does it seem immodest to create some sort of social media or website for this endeavor? I've been building at about the pace I can manage, and I've kept prices down and stepped-up quality/consistency. Just don't wanna get out over my skis or set myself up for looking like a dipshit.

I think you should do it.
