Trump referenced the golden age of American economic dominance, he literally suggested it was the gilded age. You can't make this shit up. It's not even a media bubble thing, he literally referenced the years 1879-1913 as being America's best economic years where we were the strongest and had the most influence. So, when he says Make America Great Again, he was referring to the gilded age. Also, not an era most historians would argue is when America had world dominance.

We know how the gilded age ended, though.

He's fucking old enough to remember the first Gilded Age. I'd take our old oligarchs, who at least did some charitable deeds, over our contemporary skinflint tech fucks.

If you ever wonder about Trump's motivation, it goes like this, in this order:

Talk mad shit.
Take other people's money.
Claim superior business acumen.
Blame the victim.
Sue the victim.
