I have no real strong feelings one way or another to be clear, just sharing the news. Ben made a lot of points about how it's not quite as cut-and-dried as it sounds. While it seems weird to root for any big box store, I'm never pleased to hear of any competitor to Amazon going under really. I think a further consideration is that is a bunch of musicians are now losing their side hustle so that isn't great, especially when a lot of those box stores might be their insurance while they gig on the weekends. I can also think of a lot of worse first jobs for young guys getting started or going through school.
Yes the problem is capitalism of course and if this happened before Amazon became the owner of all things I don't think I have any complicated feelings about it whatsoever.

Sure sure... but it seems like Sam Ash just couldn't figure out how to adapt to the new reality. There are music stores with an online presence that compete well against Amazon. Sweetwater, for example, is really killing it.
In the end, it's all capitalism. I would hate to see all competition go away, that would be bad for everyone. Just never going to shed a tear when some big chain can't figure it out and bites the dust.

Interesting. It made me think of Tone Lounge guitars, which were the brainchild of Brian Swerdfeger (an ex-taylor and L6 guy). This one looks mich more hand crafted, though. Hopefully one might end up at January NAMM... if anyone goes back
of all the people that found one... I don't know if this is an artist push or anything, but other than being semi hollow I can't imagine this is anything like his EGC

Duane has always mentioned having back issues and needing to find lighter and lighter guitars. I have to imagine this is 100% a concession to accommodate for that. I played one of these briefly at CME and was shocked at how light it was and how damn SMOOTH it was to play.
It doesn't sound anything like the Chessie to me, but it still sounds like Duane, go figure.

What all the old dudes said in guitar shops ended up being correct. I go between EGC, Yamaha Revstar, and Telecasters. I play my own amp, or I borrow amps. Sometimes I use my head with strange cabinets. While there is a difference in feel when playing, I always end up sounding like me. I was watching videos from Caterwaul. It was my first show with humbuckers/Revstar. It was a borrowed amp. No pedals. I sounded like I always do in all my noisy rock bands. This is awesome and sad simultaneously

ah! that makes more sense - the pickups are kind of lower output and dark, good sounding but not what I would have expected him to like, but that can be managed whereas resonance and weight is just a thing or not. Weight is it's a hollow body, just no f-holes or anything - the fretboard is a compound radius, and the hardware is all machined by our R&D shop, might explain the smooth
