I’m on a movie roll during British Free Week Off.

Really great, easy watch, simple story, perfectly paced.

I’d never thought of this as a Christmas movie, but now it seems blindingly obvious that it is one. So thanks for that! It’s probably the Coen brothers’ most underrated movie and is a personal favorite of mine.

We recently re-watched the first two Before movies with our daughter, who loved them. Before Sunrise is a wonderful movie, but the second one never fails to shatter me.

I don't understand the dadaism reference but was all on board for the Victorian futurism. Shit was gorgeous, dreamy, and even nightmarish once they made it to Alexandria. l almost squealed at the musicians for the dance sequence and loved the bubble-making contraption connected to Godwin. Started thinking about Dogtooth and wondered if the oldest daughter wasn't as controlled would she have had a parallel adventures to Bella's, controlling her means of production, licking keyboards, furious jumping, and whatnot.

Speaking of Yorgie I watched Barry Keoghan connive his thirst trapping ways through Saltburn last night. Too much gum-flapping about the bathtub sequence and not enough about the graveyard. Overall I enjoyed it but unsure if I was all about it. Love to see boring rich people get what for but it offered nothing new, even in terms of outrageousness.

Just do yourself a favor and let this wash over you. Very absurdist, dream-logic Lynchian/Wizard of Oz fugue-state thing, and as always exceedingly beautiful to look at. Those fucking parakeets. Jesus.
Thanks for this, I believe it was your post that had me looking to see if it was screening here. Got a babysitter for the first time in forever and saw it with my partner, really enjoyed it for the same reasons.
