Done- Meeting a buyer tomorrow on my lunch break-
Image
All fretted, polished, and ready for assembly
Image
and getting a good start on #28- body is routed to shape and did stain tests on a scrap of cherry- we're going a bit darker, but nothing outrageous.
Image
My goal for the next few months is to do a reasonable set of operations out in the garage each day after work, and then another round of 'inside' work, like assembly/wiring/fretwork each evening. Not always easy with a fairly stressful day job, a weekend guitar shop gig, band practice and occasional guitar tech gigs out of town.

It would be so awesome if you inlaid that mustache-shaped piece of wood right there. Call it the Swanson or the Flanders

cjury, you cross posting to reddit? Here's a crazy feedback loop - I bought an Electrical bolt on bass neck. My co-worker (who's a cool guy) saw it and got back on looking up beans. I told him to talk to this other guy here who has The Wedge (Serial #2) and a couple other beans and he loved them. He then found "a guy on reddit making his own by hand" and today he just just bought billet to start making his own.

#26 (27?) is now finished- 28" barintone, tuned A-A. Brass nut, rosewood board, grovers, brass saddles, Tonerider p-94s, cherry body w/ shellac. Off to it's new home in a couple days.

So fresh the oil is still soaking into the fretboard

Enamel paint on the aluminum control plate.

Oh...and #27 is still available, if anyone is interested.

I forgot to take pics of #28, which is coming right along. Receiver is all machined and starting the cleanup. Customer wants a fairly wide/shallow neck, so I'll add carbon fiber support. currently 3lbs 3 oz.
Image
Body is shaped- this will have p90's, so I have to leave the center until I finalize placement. W/ the rear cavity routed it is at 3lbs 10 oz.

Not sure if this counts as a 'Project' but I helped Tom Anderson Guitars get a robotic buffing system so I'm heading there next monday to check out the install. Buffing sucks, robots doing it is great.

Their guitars mostly a bit steve vai for me, but some of their tele designs and super strats are *chefs kiss*.
Tom is a suuuuper nice guy and a legend in guitar making. If he'll let me post some pictures I'll grab some because his shop is great

#28 is nearing the finish line- Body is done

Frets are in and leveled- hope to get everything crowned, polished and otherwise sorted so I can do assembly next week.
Image
#29 is well under way. This will be a regular scale, wide nut for down tuning and big strings. Both of these, and probably most instruments moving forward, will get a Carbon fiber spine inside the neck.
