I just picked this up last week. Whoa. This is one of the few new releases that just does not sound like anything else I've ever heard. Drum machines that would sound at home on a Xasthur or Leviathan album cradling swarming dins of echoing guitar and whispery choir-like vocals buried in so much reverb, you'd swear it was recorded in a room made out of steel. I look forward to hearing more Pyramids albums. The artwork/packaging is astounding and the remixes are great. Pick this up if this sounds like something you'd dig.

I take it you're not talking about the 60's surf Pyramids.

I've noticed that there are quite a few groups/bands/what have you that went by 'Pyramids'. I'll be sure to check out the surf guys.

I've been trying to find some Leatherface albums but haven't had any luck so far.

If you've never heard Greatest Gift before, you're in for a treat. One of my favourite albums. Hope you enjoy it.

Wow, I've never heard of this before but it's a lineup that's right in my wheelhouse. I just placed an order. Thanks for the heads up!

Nashville vinyl shopping spree, 5/24/08 (Bob Dylan's birthday):

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band: Safe as Milk
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band: Trout Mask Replica
Ronnie Dove
Merle Haggard: The Legend of Bonnie and Clyde
Buddy Holly and The Crickets
The Knack: ...but the little girls understand
Lynyrd Skynyrd: Nuthin' Fancy
Jeannie C. Riley: Down to Earth

I also bought compact discs of Cheap Trick's complete Budokan concert and David Allan Coe's Recommended for Airplay.

I can't believe I found a clean copy of Safe as Milk!

Fucking awesome score.
I do recommend getting the CD reissue with the bonus tracks for "Big Black Baby Shoes" which is the better and much earlier version of "Ice Rose" off of Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller). I have always thought that this is what Don Caballero should have sounded like.

Based on my recent purchase of The Crownhate Ruin's Until The Eagle Grins, I snagged Hoover's The Lurid Traversal Of Route 7.
I have not heard this record and will be excited to listen to it.
