I guess it probably is coincidental. Expecting the absolute worst drives one to conspiratorial thinking. Both parties are united on leveling Gaza.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

I’ve been through enough hurricanes to know how this works and a bunch of peak lib social media accounts going full on Rust Cohl isn’t helping, warranted or not.

I look around my neighborhood, a very mixed area of race and income. Practically everyone has a brand new car. Most people around my seem to be expecting the worst.

There's a lot here too, I think a testament to the lack of used cars

But folks. Think of the dignity of the new jobs you’ll all have making toaster ovens!

The lucky ones. The unlucky will be working the fields instead of those damn immigrants.

the whole "Americans are going to have to make due with less" to bring back the... jobs they didn't want to do? Is quite the messaging to go into midterms

I've been watching some of these youtube videos of right wing influencers and man... we are in a bad state. They would rather give up the blueprint of democracy just to give into their simple minded ideas. Criminals don't require due process (uh, how do you know if they are criminals if they haven't had their day in court?). Immigrants shouldn't be granted rights from the constitution. If the president can get something done by usurping congresses power, he should be able to.

The nauseating list goes on and on. Meanwhile, everyone's lives are negatively impacted for these short-sided views. It wouldn't be so fucking sad if it didn't have such wide-ranging implications. And we won't really feel the pain until it's too late to change course. Look how long it's taken Citizens United or disinformation campaigns to corrupt our society. I don't blame other countries from distancing themselves from us or even running to China. We are like a giant island of infected zomboids ready to tear apart anything that opens the locked gate to get inside.

The dumbest thing is almost all of them are complete grifters. Give Charlie Kirk one dollar more than the Koch Bro and he’d start spouting Third World Maoist propaganda.

reminded of that fucking hilarious time Georgia (US) went full anti-migrant and destroyed their agricultural industry for years because of it. And why? Because Americans lack the willpower or skills to do the work:

but the fields will be worked by prisoners, of which all us anti-fascists will surely be if things continue this way
