Aha, the Moderne, the Holy Grail of collectables. I jammed with a dude who had a Moderne copy - a very accurate Japanese rebuild. It was a cool guitar, but in essence just a Flying V you can sit down with - other than that it had all the typical Gibson qualities.
I kind of like the Moderne, actually. Never played one or seen one in person, but years ago I'd read about it, and thought that it was a pretty nice looking guitar. The headstock's a bit whack, though.

Here is a video of Wire with Colin Newman playing an Ovation Breadwinner. It's a live version of "Practice makes perfect".

The Breadwinner was an ugly and awkward guitar with a...hmm how shall I put it...wierd name to boot. I hate to mention Star Trek here, but the Breadwinner looks like a lopsided version of a Klingon battlecruiser. Witness:
then,
Notice the resemblance?
That aesthetic note aside, I've played a couple of them.....I don't like 'em. They sound like ass. Hence I think it was
quite explicably an unpopular/unfashionable guitar. After all, who the hell cares very much about Ovation Breadwinners these days aside from people trying to be "retro-punk-chic"? Yet, the Strat and Tele and Gibson ES-3xx are still going strong after 50 years ina variety of musical genres, and I own one of each of these electric guitars and love 'em. Tried and true.

For some reason, I think these look cool as shit.
I am probably alone on this.

Ditto!!!! Though those days are now gone.
After the acquisition of my 6th Lado, I think I am officially not in the market for any more stringed instruments, like, ever. Maybe a second Electrical at some point.
But the Ibanez, after trading my Destroyer (i.e. Explorer) for a Mac a while back, I still have two of her left ('78 Musician and '81 Studio) and don't expect to buy another. I love you, old Ibanez! But you are no Lado!
Iceman! Badass!
(ignoring the most famous player of the Iceman for a moment here)

It seems such a shame that Fender Marauders never went into production, even if only for the shape.
Like a Jag/Strat crash. So pretty.

Because I don't know what it is. I assume someone answers this later; maybe you?
RE: This thread; I'll defer to Damone and say "I think I came"?
It's a Westone Rail, if memory serves correctly

Well there's always room for taste. I think it sounds good on the video, and I'd bet (based on timbre) it's also the guitar on the record. It's a good rhythm guitar for an out-of-phase pickups sound because of the built-in pre-amp and tweak-ability. I found it to be very comfortable, and it doesn't look as weird strapped on as standing alone.

If I found a reasonably-priced Mirrorball Iceman, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
