54I can wholeheartedly recommend the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz, especially as you are using a Hiwatt DR103 and a single coil equipped guitar, this is basically my setup. The Axis has always for a long time been a favourite of mine but I never felt it really delivered until a recently when I went back to using Hiwatt amps.
Big Muffs are great (well the first issue triangle knobs version are, the rest of them sound shite, especially the black and red piece of shit) but I wouldn't class the BM as 'Fuzz', no, not fuzz

If you're talking about the fuzz splatter on "Bat Macumba" you're kinda out of luck. the pedal was a sewing machine motor attached to the volume knob of some fuzz box. As you worked the sewing machine pedal, the volume would turn on and off and cause that weird trem fuzz. Their brother, Liminhe built all their pedals, as electric gear was somewhat contraband at the time b/c of the brazilian gov't.
kerble is right.

57Vox Tone Bender or Foxx Tone Machine.
I've got the old units, don't know if the Foxx reissues are good or not but give them a try.

58I have a Big Muff, but it sounds ridiculously tame.
Could it just be my amp? Because it honestly sounds better on my 15w practice amp.

Big Muff = Distortion, Hi gain overdrive. Smooth, saturated
Fuzz = Shin-Ei, Univox SF, Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face. Spluttery, farty, spitty.
Worlds apart my friend

The Foxx reissues are good.
However, the Danelectro French Toast is an exact clone of the Tone Machine, for significantly cheaper.
