Very true. My thoughts exactly.

Man, that's really weird. Some months ago I was thinking about the difference between man, and man's environment, and how they relate. And I just realized that any form of device, from simple clothing made of hides on up to computers, would alienate us from our surroundings.

So, I told this girl, "Let's just go out in the woods naked and kiss, as far from any invention of man as possible. And let's be blindfolded, so we can't even see each other and get distracted." She was down with it.

I thought I was going to have this primordial re-awakening of consciousness and just, you know, have this absolutely transcendent experience. It wasn't like that. It was dark and cold, and since we were blindfolded I kept worrying that we'd run into a tree. The kiss was absolutely unextraordinary. And the environment that surrounds us? A bunch of crap, really. No unity. No fireworks. Gaia is a trifling punk.

So this girl actually gets mad at me because I tell her, "That which surrounds us is nothing. There is no magic in your kiss." It wasn't personal. I'm sure there was no magic in my kiss either. But women are like that.

Yes, it would be unextraordinary, but that would be expected. It's understandable that you wouldn't feel as a close, divine connection with nature as you would have in the past, simply because the human's mindset and view of nature has evolved over time in the same manner as society has changed (then again, these two are basically the same). Of course, our surroundings (and the way we choose to live our lives) has much impact in what our perception (and how it will change) is in the future. At the time of the invention of the tool, Humans lived much differently, and thought of the Earth in much a different manner as well, and the invention of the tool was one of the things that helped find a way to distance ourselves from our environment, and helped shape things into the way they are now, where nature is seen as a nuisance, filled with pesky insects and major inconveniences (from the viewpoint of the average person living in a major industrialized nation). Yes, there are still people living in such a manner; not all have changed, but they also don't live in the same environment\surroundings\society as the type listed above either, so naturally they wouldn't change in the same manner as the 1st world nation type (without outside influence).
Unless your response was more in humor, then nevermind. Your quote of a lyric from one of your songs would suggest this.

Edit: Changing mine to something else. It's very difficult to decide what the worse act perpetrated by man is (since there are thousands of examples), so I'll go with this: the worst act perpetrated is man. Fuck them.

The firebombing of Tokyo was arguably as bad in terms of immediate loss of human life in each city. It just wasn't as [moving pictures of mushroom cloud explosions as broadcast on The History Channel].

You wouldn't want to have been around for the bombing raids on Dresden or Pforzheim, either.

Hey, anyone who voted for "tools" and "religion" as the ultimate atrocities of humanity is pretty much a grande mocha latte with whipped cream playing Madden NFL 2007.

As fucking if.

No, wait! You're right!

You've identified the core causes, grand historians.

Take away the crescent wrenches and Adonai, and we're all hand-holding berry-gatherers on the steppes.

Get fuck'd, delusionists.

Anyway, no one has mentioned the founding and existence of the People's Republic of China. That's odd. In terms of sheer cordwood, the PRC makes the Nazis look like the Welcome Wagon.

Throw in the founding and existence of the U.S.S.R., the Holocaust, African slavery and European colonialism as "acts" perpetrated by "man", and you're pretty much left with a burned out foundation inhabited by rats and cockroaches.

If you've never heard of Pforzheim (or, G(g)od(s) forbid, Dresden), then you probably ought to quit arguing on the internet about human atrocities and pick up a history book.

Sincerely,
Bradley R. Montescherbelino
