So many unexpected picks on this thread...
Has anyone heard the cover Low did of this song? Pretty right on, if you ask me.

53There's a Riot Goin' On - Sly and the Family Stone.
This mutha has got to rate. Funky, fucked up, sloppy, grimmy, desperate, and catchy as all hell.

54Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
best record ever of all time and you know it!
55mbv-loveless
silver jews-american water
wipers-is this real?
kinks-village green
gbv-bee thousand
tv-marquee moon
all these albums have tracks that i skip (except marquee moon and is this real?). for each one, i could make a list of several things i dislike. but when i listen to these albums, i hear and experience things that aren't actually encoded in the music. these unidentifiable things, while they last, make the albums my favourites. i suppose that's how it goes.

58as with everyone, it changes pretty much every day but i guess -
yes, it's easy to forget but it was such an important part of my life. there isn't a bad track and it makes you feel nearly every emotion at some point. still defies any attempt at classification. there really wasn't anything like it before or since.
if i'm honest with myself, this album is played almost every day of my life at some point and i still love it far more than i should. down to the art work, it's a loose concept album based around really really wanting to leave a disasterous new years party. if you think angular dischord funk can't be a pop masterpiece then you should check out this album.
they made better albums but this is the one that kills me. it's become such a rarity to have three songwriters and even rarer to have all three on such form. incredible recording.
on the one hand, it is cap'n jazz reformed but thankfully they had the foresight to call themselves owls instead. although this is a thoroughly cohesive album, you can't help but want to stand on your chair in amazement at victor villareal's guitar work or mike kinsella's drumming (recorded at electrical of course!). may well be the album i have listened to the most.
