What's unfortunate for Bonds is that it appears he started "juicing" in order to compete with those who were already using. Barry before the drug use was easily a top 10 outfielder of all time.

I have no appreciation for Mcgwire who was a marginal player until he became the poster boy for steroids.

That command/insult lacks fervor. You have to express how many dicks you want him to eat and what they should be smothered in to make that truly effective.

With STEROIDS constituting such a high percentage of coverage of baseball these days, I would love to know why there is no media attention paid to the use of illegal amphetamines by, um, EVERYONE in baseball over the last 60+ years. Of course there are studies showing performance enhancing benefits for baseball activities from these drugs, while none exist for steroids or HGH or pure testosterone or whatever the muscle-building drug of the moment is, but fuck Barry and his cheating steroids and everything else under the sun related to the man.

If you're going to scream from the top of the mountain that Barry Bonds is a cheater because of iPEDs and that this renders his records as tarnished, you're going to have to take that logic back a long, long, long ways in the history of the game. Once you do that, you confront the following: there was never a "pure" period in baseball. Men have always taken liberties with the rules of the game (and the law and ethics in general) to achieve a competitive advantage, and muscle-building illegal performance-enhancing drugs are barely a ripple in the ocean of misdeeds throughout baseball's history -- especially when one considers that they weren't even explicitly against the rules of the game until the early 00s. The simple truth is that pretty much any period in baseball before the late 1980s left a much bigger shit stain than anything that's happened since, steroids included. There just weren't the Jay Mariottis and ESPN douches around to scream in our ears about it.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, against the history of the game of baseball, the Barry Bonds/iPEDs "scandal" rates about a "2" in terms of actual damage and corruption to the integrity of the game. The fact that the mainstream media feels the need to make this THE story, and that dickheads all across the country eat the story up and spit it out to inflate the issue to seemingly epic proportions, this is not my problem. This is their problem for their small minds, for this will manifest in other aspects of life where they will find themselves consistently proven wrong by smarter people using better logic. It still makes me very angry though.

I am confident that the history of the game will be written by thoughtful, level-headed, intelligent types who will put all of this in proper perspective. Many are already doing this type of work, but just like with music, you've got to actually look to find them -- they're not the ones populating your networks and marketing their articles and programming down your throats.
