i am so bad at geography it's pathetic. always have been.

Is there a "bad at geography" gene?

I do not believe so.

The "I am so bad at geography/spelling/math/grammar/names" explanations have always struck me as being hollow explanations for ignorance. Really, I see each type of "badness" as resulting from nothing more than simple indifference or laziness.

I mean, really. Who cares about Yemen, right?

Well, I can understand being bad at spelling. That could be lesdyxia, I guess.

Anyway, I have great faith that folks who can tear apart and rebuild consoles and tape machines can commit to learning the locations of Kabul and Pyongyang.

How many people don't know the countries in which Kabul and Pyongyang are located? I bet that this number is quite high.

That's a real drag.

On a lighter note, learning about the existence of the PacificNWGRA made me smile today.

It heartens me to see people be kind to themselves.

I received a 5728 on my first attempt, thanks in part to my Chinese art history instructor, ol' Professor what's-his-nuts.

Yemen is a great name for a country. As well as being a pleasing sound it's also conducive to free associations with "Yeah Man" "Fremen" as in Dune so therefore "Giant Sandworms" and uh, "Semen".

Yemeni people probably hate "our freedom" . How can it not stick in your mind. I care, really, really, Ok?

Oh yeah, my first attempt at the advanced game = 8618 (yawn).

Ooh, 5074....and only because of some city in Greenland that I missed by a billion miles.

My response - and I think it was a fitting one - was "There are cities in Greenland?"
