Yeah, getting that was a big deal to me. I was 14 years old, I think. I'd heard Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Wire, Neubauten, Loop... but the big find on there for me was Swell Maps, who became a huge influence on me as time went on. But, the first CD i ever loved was AC/DC - Back in Black.

So, the 1st one I paid for with my own money was Mansize Rooster by Supergrass I think.

The first one I ever owned however was Simple Minds-Glittering prize. Yeah, thanks mum.

I had such a hard time switching to CD's, I really loved my cassettes! I think it was around 1994 when I finally got my first CD player which was a portable POS and skipped if you looked at it wrong. I went to this great used CD store in Bozeman, MT....I believe the first was the Pixies, Doolittle.

Wow, there was sure some cheesy, dated, 80s, brittle, clanky drum programming on this one and a Scritti Politti cover, too! Hooo boy! I bought this CD at the stereo shop when I bought my first CD player (I had saved up for a while). This was the same store where I bought my first 'good' speakers less than a year earlier. I remember a sales guy (sporting a knit tie) demoing some Boston Acoustics with a track by Mannheim Steamroller.

Ahhh, 1986...

the first album i purchased was nofx - liberal animation on cassette. first cd was minor threat, bought it from a friend.
