And the retarded social Darwinist crap at the beginning: poor people are dumb and inbred, hence poor; wealthier people are intelligent and thoughtful, hence fewer in number and richer. Enlightening stuff. Throw in a gonzo black president as the inevitable outcome of a devolved America, and it's easy to forget, that at times, this is marginally better than Dumb and Dumber.

Not to belabor the point, but it's a bit ironic that such a stupid, base movie should be celebrated as incisive satire.

Forgettable crap.

I agree with almost all of the above.
But I'd call it forgettable not crap.

I think the lowbrow nature of the humor in the movie was intended as an object-lesson to underscore the movie's message.

Your right. It's not an adam sandler movie it's social commentary. If your judging the jokes then your missing the point completely.

Sure. And some of it was funny. But if I make a move that's a string of "ironic" racist stereotypes and sight gags, and people delight in it as savvy satire, while laughing along with all the racism ("ironically"), it begins to beg the question.

If a movie's chief source of pleasure is in trafficking in the very substance it purports to satirize, arguably the joke's on the viewer who gets to feel superior to the culture being critiqued while simultaneously indulging in it. When you throw in the reactionary social Darwinist shit and the gonzo black president as the icon of cultural degeneration, the satire itself becomes base and stupid.

I'm not saying it's stupid to enjoy this movie, or, better, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a stupid move. But mistaking a stupid movie for a smart one is dumb.
