The bone crushing metal of Dethlok is coming to Chicago -- with some other little band known as ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead -- but you're not gonna get to see them unless you're enrolled at Northwestern. Both groups are playing a students-only show (boo!) on November a8, which means you still have some time to get up to Evanston and start buying co-eds drinks, seduce 'em, and then steal their student IDs while they're sleeping.

A friend of mine who writes for a local rag got a photo pass for the show in Madison, and since i have a car and could give her a ride, i was her +1, so i got to see the show. It was silly and brutal. It was sillutal. They play all the hits, and Brendan Small is the rhythm guitarist/singer, which is pretty goddamn impressive, since i haven't been paying attention to this show enough to realize that Small actually plays and graduated from Berklee.

Bought the DVDs today as a result of seeing the show, and i'm cracking up muchly.

And i was pleasantly surprised to see Trail of Dead pretty much kick ass. I figured that since i hated their last two records that they'd probably suck, but nope, it's just that they weigh down their songs with too much symphonic bullshit on record. Live, they're stripped down to guitar/bass/piano/drums (albeit as a six-piece now), and they were really great.

brendan small is a monster of a guitarist and is also quite hilarious.

please, people, watch this.

it's an extra from a "home movies" (also an awesome cartoon) dvd.

Home Movies is just a brilliant show. I find myself worshiping Coach McGurk. One of my favorite cartoons. It reminds me of the first Bob Newhart Show. Not crap.

Is the new season online somewhere that plays well on Safari, or should I use FireFox if I want flash or whatev to play right, like without the hiccups, or am I fucked plus it's not online yet? I'm on a G3 here and I ate lead paint chips when I was a kid.

i have only just downloaded the first season and watched them all back to back! Fucking genius.
the one with the coffee jingle is awesome.
