If I were in Chicago tonight I would go see Powerhouse Sound (Jeff Parker, Nate McBride, Ken Vandermark and John Herndon) at the Hideout. Their album on Atavistic is excellent, Parker lays down some very great Joe Baiza-esque guitar on it. I am sure it is even better live.

I would also go see The Thing on Friday and Saturday at the Hideout.

I'm driving home after work in DeKalb to see the fam(ily) on saturday and I just realized that hanging out with friends from teenage years would only be depressing.
