I love this album, but my college radio friends who enjoy Polvo and Faust and so forth definitely don't care about it. Other friends who enjoy RHCP and other music I don't care for, do.

For my part:

Text, s/t
Glossier than Wu-Tang, more graphic than Scratch Acid, and hated at some point by every roommate I've ever had.

I know other people care about this record, but their numbers are few indeed, in fact I bet I know most of the people who do love this record on a first name basis.

Unbelievable Jolly Machine-Dangers Of Free Parking, they saddled themselves w/ a truly horrible band name that unfortunately lead to just about no one taking them seriously. I know I wouldn't have bothered w/ them unless they were my friends. But their third and final record is truly a great "lost" gem of an indie record, similar to early Polvo or Archers of Loaf. A singer/guitar player who had some serious chops, a drummer who had developed a truly unique style due to the fact he taught himself to play drums on an enromous, arena rock sized drumkit, that we gave him an endless amount of shit for, but he always stuck to and their second bass player whose favorite bass player was thankfully Peter Hook and so eschewed all the popping/slapping crimes of his predcessor. I know they spent a lot of time crafting the songs and the recording of this record and itpaid off, it sounds great. Its a goddamn crime that few people outside of the greater Minneapolis/St Paul area never heard it. They had reached their end by the time the record finally came out. Its almost 6 or 7 yrs old now and it still stands up.

I liked Acetone quite a bit.

For about two months in college, I listened to "Wonderful World" every morning before class.

Sunset Valley- Boyscout Superhero

Everyone I play this for usually complains about the "nerdish" delivery on the vocals. A great Portland band....now defunct?

The Farewell Bend - In Passing

These guys weren't around very long. KC band, members of Boys Life and Giant's Chair. I saw them open for Shiner at the Fireside a few years back and picked up the record. The vocals kind of turn some people off. But the songs were pretty awesome.

Anything by Yes released in the 70's (except Tormato). Amazing, but no one cares because no one knows... Their loss. Yes isn't hurting. They can still pack in a stadium.
