I really didn't think Tweedy private set would outdo last year because it wasn't as uncomfortable in there, though still oversold. He wound up doing 3 shows for $17,500 a piece.

So great!

I popped back in on my walk to work this a.m. and saw the Detholz! at 9:30. No one looked even a smidge diminished.

If you have time, make an effort to go.

There was an auction during the set as to how much someone would pay to see Heather slap Steve in the face, though. She got two good shots in with a weak one in between.

The set was pretty sweet. 6 songs.

I gave heather 20 bucks because I thought she was collecting money and Steve was gonna match whatever was collected (a la the Jackson Diamond benefit wherein they played without pants). I blame my sleepiness for not recognizing what was going on.

That said, if anyone has pictures from Shellac's set I'd love to see them... they looked like they were having a ball playing together!

So much fun. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much. All the musical acts that I caught were great. Tweedy only did a couple of songs, but related some great stories & was generally funny. Langford & Timms were like an old married couple up there, to great effect. Robbie Fulks was awesome as usual. Shellac brought both the funny & the rock. Nice bitch-slap, Heather!

By the time I left (about 4am), no one had even bid on the Iggy lyric sheets or Breeders keyboard. I'm kinda shocked about that. I hope my buddy & I won the day at Electrical (but i doubt it). I think the best auction item went to the 'free pass at all non-sold-out shows at Schuba's FOREVER' item. I think the bid on that when I left was something like $1700 or so.

Salut to all those who donated any money to this great cause, and thanks to Heather & all the people who provided such great entertainment!
