I hate them.
I guess some of their tunes are okay, the lyrics are not. I also really hate that erzatz Beatles vibe they go after, especially in their videos. I can't really site example off hand but, y'know?

Well, OK. So I've yet to hear a decent album track.

Not crap, cf. "Step Out," "Headshrinker," "Acquiesce," "Live Forever," "(What's the Story) Morning Glory," and a couple other tunes. They were a mighty refreshing change in the States (where we didn't get so saturated with 'em) from the likes of -- *shudders violently* -- Stone Temple Pilots and Combustible Edison. Also I might have somehow omitted to put them on my list of non-crap live shows.

They're better than the Foo Fighters, that's for damn sure.

Oasis are a massive pile of utter puerile shit.

A small waffle factor is floating around in the air like a tiny fly on this pile of shit, for turning thousands upon thousands of British adolescent people away from The Prodigy and on to guitars again, but this fly is quickly made to die by the huge swatter-like fact that 99% of these guitar weilding adolescent people never did, do not and will not now ever sound like anything else other than Oasis, being mostly not clever enough to sound like the Stone Roses, which they'd like to as well.

The fact that I can't use the term 'indie' to anyone in this country without knowing that I may as well be saying "I love Oasis" says it all.

Oasis in their massiveness have dragged the traditional love of rock music of the common British folk to a never before held low. For rock to be big and dumb is fine. For it to be the prime example of a general dumbing-down of our culture as a whole is not fine. Oasis were the sign that the bar had been lowered to a point beyond which it could go no further. After Oasis there was no point reading the NME, listening to Radio 1 (Peel excepted), etc. Oasis are the point where the independent creation of music as art and the mainstream business-class bovine fodder divide.

The same goes for Coldplay - I not a fan but rather they than Steps.

I would honestly kill Steps if I would not go to prison for it.
