Playstation didn't have Goldeneye. N64 wins.

Or Ocarina of Time. TKO.

The thing about Pokemon being the only online game by the end of 2007 is total balls. And there will be plenty of essential games by the end of the year too. I imagine there will be plenty more, but the ones i actually know about :
Metroid, Fire Emblem, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Smash Brothers Brawl, Resident Evil 4 Wii edition, Dragon Quest Swords, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle II.

Plus there's all the casual games for playing with the friends/kids etc like Kororinpa, Mercury Meltdown Revolution, Wario Ware, Trauma Center, Mario vs Sonic Olympics, Cooking Mama, Geometry Wars.

Factor in the DS compatability, the increase in non-ported games, and the Virtual Console (which i just found out now has ACTRAISER!) and i think the Wii is going to be absolutely brilliant. The 360 covers all the other required bases. Sony got too complacent and messed up with PS3 i reckon. I'm just glad Nintendo are still willing to try pushing the envelope with the actual gameplay in mind.

nor did it launch with *my favourite* Pilotwings and Mario, followed swiftly by other AA or AAA titles like Blast Corps and Waverace (then again, no Nintendo console since has had that quality of support early on either). However, I'm struggling to recall any particularly strong N64 3rd party games apart from Treasure's Sin & Punishment, and a partial credit for Turok and some of the DMA design games: one of the many reasons why they had their asses handed to them by Sony. N64 had no Gran Turismo, no Tomb Raider, no Tekken, no decent 3D fighter full stop, a shitty Wipeout, no Metal Gear and, most crucially, no Final Fantasy 7.

Swings and roundabouts, innit.

It's also worth remembering Nintendo were as guilty as Sony ever have been for bullshit announcements prior to the "Ultra 64" launch, and their treatment of PAL territories is/always has been a fucking disgrace.

The Wii could do with some good new games, pronto.

I thought Banjo Kazooie was great. Or do you include Rare under the whole Nintendo umbrella?

I bought a Modchip for my Wii to play *ahem* "back-ups". The only thing is, you have to open the fucking thing and solder it in yourself. I've never actually done it before and the damn thing is actually microscopic. Just taking the damn case off took thirty minutes and five different screwdrivers. Once it's nekkid, it looks like this -

See it is but a regular PC! Like the ones I use at work! I AM ONTO YOU NINTENDOS. THERE'S NOT EVEN A LITTLE PLUMBER OR ANYTHING WTF. See now I'm not scared I have to unplug all the little wires and stuff so I can look at the motherboard. The chip is so small it's hard to take a photo of it -

Then you have to solder five different points of the chip onto the motherboard without any of them touching at all. I used a butane soldering iron because it was portable and had a narrow point. I also had to stuff my nose with tissue because I had a really bad cold and I didn't want to drip snot onto the damn thing. Once you put it back together you realise that you didn't write down where all the screws went so you end up using about half as many. Somehow, I got the solders right first time and I've been playing those *ahem* "back-ups" ever since. If anyone owns a Wii and has (I can't stress this enough) a shitload of patience you can get the chip I used here.
