Brighter Death Now fills the bill for me. I like Coil, but , except occasionally, I don't find them scary. Definitely lysergic though.

The soundtrack from the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is very scary.

You've heard Coil's cover, right? I don't think of Coil as particularly menacing, with the exception of that very cover. And its even a little bit obvious (super slow, deadpan vocal, etc.).

Anything by Today Is The Day is so overwhelmingly depressing that I wouldn't doubt it. I'm highly against suicide, but TITD is just freakishly painful music. The title track on 'Temple' is enough to bring suicidal thoughts out of... hell, anyone. Even me.

I'm a big fan of the first two records, but the first time I heard Temple of the Morning Star, I felt like. I don't know, the first time I saw Hellraiser or The Exorcist-level malovalent freakness was jsut about to unfold around me. Subsequent listenings to the first couple of tracks had the exact same results.

There is something completely wrong about that record, like it could trigger daemonic schizophrenia if the right person listened to it.

Brrr. I just got the shivers, and it's not due to the cold.

'spinal menigitis' by Ween really creeps me out.

'weed forestin' by Sebadoh has it's moments.

Venom 'Welcome to Hell' in 7th grade was really kind of scary.

Crossing a line you knew you shouldn't be crossing. I couldn't actually play it for anyone. Friends and family were like - 'your fucked'. My mom wouldn't let me have it in the house.

I retreated back to that record on my own thinking I have truly turned against God.

Nothing has gone right since.

This probably doesn't count:

In Oliver Stone's Scarface, Richard Belzer introduces a weird musical act that gets gunned down by goons.
Octavio.
Coked out, scary synth scoring underneath.

This almost-music spooks me each time.
