Boston Blackie's...is that the place on Clark Street, south of the Financial District, maybe off of Congress? If so, it always did seem a fancier-type sit-down place, thus my having never bothered. I reckon I'll give it a shot based upon that kind of recommendation..

Are you thinking of Blackies on the corner of Clark and Polk? I don't think they are affiliated with Boston Blackie's which has something like 5 or 6 locations. Blackies (the one on Clark and Polk) is a decent bar with decent bar food. They have good burgers, but not near as good as Kuma's...and Blackies isnt' fancy at all.

To be clear, I'm talking aobut the Boston Blackie's on Grand. I used to get hamburgers delivered from there when I was working on a record at CRC, which used to be quite often. I figure it's been Six years or so since I had one, but they were incredible.

I personally coulda stood for a bit more toppings, but it was primo meat cooked to rare perfection. I like pretzel buns. Fries were seasoned just right, although a bit soggy.

And Edmund Fitzgerald on tap? That sunk me.

Owner and staff were cool, drunks were amusing, and crowd was diverse, which should be good for business.

Thanks for the heads up, Marsupialized.

I had the Yob today too. I couldn't decide between that, the Metallica or the Mastodon so I waited til I was asked and just blurt out Yob.

Holly Golightly had the Melvins with a garden patty. We both enjoyed this first time at the Metal Burger bar. There was a table of trixies next to us who seemed to enjoy it too.

We agreed that the pretzel roll makes these burgers. Without it, it is still a good burger with crazy toppings but the pretzel roll really brought it all home for us.
