I can't believe George Bush would have the audacity to actually fucking say that, to bring up all this nonsense and suggest this disaster in Minneapolis was the Democrats' fault!
Whatever day he dies on should be declared a national holiday.

I'm sure at some point in the future, the words "Bush" or "President Bush" will become a synonym for the word "Disaster", since his presidency has been a disaster from day one.

It just took that long before he made any public statements about it.

Hey Man, you have my empathy. And I've got several very good friends in the Twin Cities, plus I lived there for a year and a half, so this hits close to home for me too.
I was simply venting.
Forgive me, it's a message board.

Minneapolis-St. Paul is balkanized now?
I had no idea.
Do you need help, Jeremy? Should I call the Red Cross?
Should I send Hardee's care packages?
Hey Roger, I'll take one of those care packages now.

So far so good, thank you. I don't have any relatives here but many friends and I haven't heard anything bad yet.

Heartbroken for those families who lost loved ones! Still shaken from the close call of our friends and families. Scott from Arcwelder wrote the following:
This is to let you know that I am alive and well. I was out and on the road at the time, but not on 35W. Bill was. Here's the scoop.
Arcwelder played a rare weekday show last night for a benefit that Steve McClellan put together.
Rob and I were on the road at the time of the collapse, but not on 35-W. Bill and Steve McClellan, the promotor of the show, were both on I-35. Bill estimates he crossed the bridge about 5 minutes before it fell. Steve estimates he was coming up to it about five minutes after. He saw the big traffic jam, jumped the curb (median?), and turned around to get off the freeway. He had no idea, he just didn't want to be stuck in traffic. When he heard the sirens, he though they were coming for him.
One of the other band members had also crossed the bridge about 5 minutes before the fall. He told me that he was haunted by the faces of the construction workers that he saw while he was going over the bridge. At that point, no one in the club knew what had happened to them. At this point, their exact status is still unclear to me. Sounds like all but one made it, which is amazing. They rode the bridge down, boucing into and off of cars.
The club is maybe a mile and a half from the bridge. Outside of the club, helecopters were swarming everywhere. It was hot and humid out.
We knew fairly soon inside the club. Everyone was in shock. McClellan especially. There were TVs all over playing the news coverage. It spread around the world instantly. Bill got an e-mail on his blackberry from friends in Brazil asking about it within 45 minutes after it happened.
The show went on. It was not attended well, but it was fun anyway. I enjoyed it at least. It was a good temporary release from the strangeness of the day.
I've been driving over that bridge since 1976. Yesterday, while thinking about what route to take to get to the club, I wondered if I should try to take I 35, but couldn't figure out a way which made any sense compared to my other choices.
