tis on the bass but 'stand by me' is a contender. although mr king did start many of his songs with those notes. too many.

There actually is a "sleepy little town" called China Grove off I-10 just inside the Loop 1604 outer beltway of San Antonio, near Converse. Ironically, the guy in the Doobie Brothers reportedly had no clue it even existed and just made up the name for the song.
