Bourbon or Scotch variety? Count me in on a nice neat Balvenie or whatever they have on the top shelf. Been into the Manhattans lately as it makes me feel like a grandpa when I order one. Also will have a Margarita on occasion.

Bourbon rocks most often, though I also like a good Irish.

I'm a huge fan of single malt scotch neat (with maybe a touch of tepid water), though I reserve that for when I'm really feeling indulgent, since I tend to buy the high-price stuff and try to make it last. I've got a bottle of Talisker in my cabinet that I've managed to make last for months.

Yup. Forgot this one. Great drink.

Anyone actually try a Puce Caffe (sp?). It was Ed Grimley's favorite drink. 7 unmixed levels of various liquor.

i've got it!

you know that strawberry flavour milkshake you buy from garages (not the thick ones)? 2/3rds fill a glass with this then add cheap (toxic) vodka up to the top. i'm going to call it Pink Heebie.

it is delicious, gets you massively drunk, and may have a bizarre side-effect.

anyone who tries it, please let me know of your observations. genuinely interested.

vodka and ice is a good start.

The missus and I have declared that simple little drink as our Summer standby. 2 fingers, one cube. Sip away. SO nice.

Otherwise stick with a decent bourbon. NEAT.

The big thing with booze is to drink it like an adult, not a frat boy. Sip it and enjoy the process, don't just slam it to get wasted. A good tquila with one cube sipped is REALLY NICE!

scott wrote:Just got a bottle of this weird Turkish liquor, I'm pretty sure the drink is Raki and the brand is Tekirdag (with a bar over the G, which means the G is not pronounced but rather the vowel preceeding it has a slightly drawn-out sound, go figure).

The weird thing about it (aside from it being flavored like anise) is that the common way to drink it is mixed with a little water. That's not weird, BUT. when you add some water to this clear liquid, it turns white. WTF?!?!

I have no certainty about this, but am assuming that most bars wouldn't have it. But if you see it somewhere, and you like a taste in the neighborhood of Chai/Anise/Licorice, then go for it.

I just had this at a friend's barbecue. Its so great. They pronounce it rah-kah. You are not going to find this in bars at all, but you can get a bottle at Binny's Beverage Depot. The brands they have there are Efe and Yeni, I believe.

The Manhattan is the cocktail of choice for me. Maker's does fine, Wild Turkey, or Woodford are okay, but anything that's a higher quality than that, the bourbon should be sipped neat. Bulleit is my new favorite Bourbon by far, and its starting to appear in more bars/liquor stores.

When I'm at a casino, my drink is Tom Collins. I don't really know why, it just always has been. I've never had 2 Tom Collins that taste exactly the same. I really think that nobody knows the proper way to make them.

Did anyone else notice that Bell's beer is back in Chicago? (Don't kerble me, I'm just making conversation) :)

A Woodford Manhattan?
Look who's a fancy pants.
Try to hunt down Eagle Rare. It should be about the same price as Bulleit.
