early Floyd, last 4 Neurosis albums, Swans - Filth, all Shellac and BB records, Jesus Lizard. pretty much anything outstanding really....oh, and Corrupted.

more interesting would be albums that are best when you listen to them quietly. not inaudibly, just quietly.

yep. loud is easy. quiet is much more difficult. i can ring up mbv yet again this thread. loveless sounds great quiet...especially on drugs, lying on the floor with a bookshelf speaker six inches away from either ear. playing very very quietly. is awesome.

but anyways...loud: zaireka on four cd players playing full blast from different rooms in a house. zeppelin on era appropriate equipment: a ca.1969 magnovox console turntable was an attitude changing experience in regards to how good mastering and good equipment can mesh perfectly. (chavez - who made a couple great 'loud' records - sounded awful on the same system). my current favorite loud listen is flying lotus. anyone into the j dilla / el-p inspired hiphop should definitely pick it up.
