Can't find a link to the TJL/Amateur clip, but this bit is good too, I reckon...

As much as I enjoy Hal Hartley and love the Jesus Lizard, I thought "Then Comes Dudley" was a terrible pick for the scene in Amateur. As a matter of fact I think most of Hartley's song choices are good but poorly placed.

I really like Thre Stranglers "Peaches" at the beginning of Sexy Beast.

Wood Goblin wrote:Dazed and Confused also uses several songs absolutely perfectly: "Sweet Emotion" in the opening sequence, "Tuesday's Gone" as the party in the woods draws to a close, "Slow Ride" as Wooderson and crew drive off to pick up Aerosmith tickets. That entire movie should be screened to film students to demonstrate how to use pop songs as a soundtrack, to avoid that whole mixtape-as-soundtrack crap that Cameron Crowe uses.

That film actually made me buy an Aerosmith LP.

The first few scenes of Repo Man are perfectly paced and the music works great in them. From the Iggy Pop theme song to the Cricle Jerks song when Otto meets up with Duke, then "Institutionalized" when Otto gets a beer from the refrigerator to "TV Party" playing in the background when Otto finds Duke fucking his girlfriend. When Otto is all pissed off and drunk and alone he sings some lines from "TV Party." It's all so good.

The only reason I checked this thread was to say the same.
That is probably the best use of a Pixies' song ever.
That includes their albums.

I agree more and more with this every time I try to listen to them.

Also, "Baba Oreilly" in Son of Sam and whatever Stooges song it was in the Life Aquatic.
