Merle Haggard is a really good one. Maybe he's different now, but during Vietnam he had songs like "The Fightin' Side Of Me" and "Okie From Muskogie" that were rabidly pro-war, anti-protest.

As an artist, I prefer Merle Haggard to Johnny Cash.

i don't know about merle being a republican, exactly....he's a complicated guy. he had a song called "that's the news" out this year that was very, very critical of the bush administration. he also said that the beating administered to the dixie chicks was like something out of nazi germany.
