the smalls
The most important band of my youth. Rural metalheads who sang about their saddle horses dying and covered Chrissie Hynde. Unlike any band on earth and more intense live than anything I’ve ever seen including Fugazi, Shellac, No Means No, etc. My girlfriend had her collar bone broken at a show and didn’t regret going.
They used to put on their own shows in warehouses and community centers and there’d always be an uneasy mix of greasy skids and old-school skaters going ape-shit from start to finish.
the smalls RIP.
The singer has recently been touring northern alberta in a Dwight Yoakam coverband, the guitarist has recently been in Taiwan, the bassist fronts a shit-hot country trio, and I think the drummer remains strungout on smack.

This can't happen, but sort of did. Glen Taylor the original Dicks guitarist died back in 1997. However, they had a reunion show last September in San Francisco with Brian Magee on guitar. There will probably be a follow-up show in Austin.

we came close when we got Mould and Hart playing together to support Karl Mueller's benefit show, but never again......
in lieu of that and the existence of to-scale coverbands in existence in the area (you see these " musicians wanted " ads that call for "a dead ringer for Slash/Axl "etc) so a buddy are working on a husker du to-scale band but we cant find the right mustache-bearing bassist interested in such a thing... so if you know any....PM me

Any one of the local Burlington VT bands that played during my college days (Screaming Broccoli, Hollywood Indians, Black Hairy Tongue, Vann, Jazzin' Hell, Freezerbrn, Wards, Headlock). Everyone grew up, moved and/or got jobs, excpet for the Wards most likely.
As for non VT bands that actually toured somewhat:
1. Halo of Flies most definietly.
2. Stompbox
3. Alice Donut
4. Chevy Heston
5. Pussy Galore
