This is true, and it's my biggest problem with him. He's always SOLID, but sometimes the song doesn't call for SOLID.

I can think of a few later-period songs that would've benefited from an approach that was less SOLID. "Stawberry Fields"- really like that song, hate the drumming. Very literal drums on an abstract song. This song did not need the SOLID from Ringo. No wonder Lennon was never happy with it.

Which part of the song? The 2nd part has about four or five people(including both roadies) playing a simultaneous drums-and-percussion part, and it's also backwards.

The drumming on A Day In The Life is poetic and dreamlike. And still, somehow, heavy.

I think that's my favorite Ringo performance and sound.

You might have anticipated my vote from my screen name...

Also, I don't know if you guys have heard that awesome George Martin Beatles mash-up CD, but, apparently, when Martin was isolating each track and element, he spent a few hours listening to Ringo's drumming. And then he called Ringo up, and said, "Richard, I was just listening to all your drum tracks, and...they're really good." And Ringo said, quietly, "Yeah, I know."

On days when I go into the studio to play on someone else's record, and I try to play with as much swing, conciseness and humor as Ringo, they never say "Wow, could you play, like, more fills and stuff? Do you have a second bass drum you could play?"

They generally say "How should we make out this check? Can you be here tomorrow?"

Jim Goad living in Atlanta? Hilarious.

Hey man, it's me Chad, good to see you here.

Just watched Help last night and Ringo's alright with me.

"It Don't Come Easy" was my first 45 as a kid.

Jim is apparently thrilled with boiled peanuts and red velvet cake and the tall buildings at night.

If he can handle Atlanta, more power to him. I like to visit and i dearly love my Atlanta peeps, but I don't let the sun come up on me up in there. No sir. Back to the country with me, before the traffic starts!

And, as embarrassing as it is to ask this... which chad??

I don't get it. It's the same thing: Keep it going-great fill-keep it going-great fill-etc.

With regards to the drums, there is really not much of a difference between the two songs.

Don't feel bad, were rare but not that rare.

Chad Etchison. I've left LA since I last saw you, I'm in Atlanta now myself.

Say hi to David for me.

Hope all is well for you guys...

sup, Chad!?

Great to know that you're still alive!

PM me, let me know what's going on with you.

Things are good here. Looks like there's going to be a full Five-Eight reunion on the 14th of November. Sean's coming down. Should be fun.

You are correct.

The older I get, the more I appreciate Ringo's non-intrusive but still awesome drumming style.

My uncle bought a poster of Meet the Beatles that Ringo signed. Except he signed it on the back of the poser. Upside down.
