Fuck this Comcast Cable, let's talk about other options

Went netflix through the Roku box and could not be more pleased. 60 bucks, took 5 minutes to set up, easy as pie to navigate. At the end they were expecting 160 bucks a month from me for the shitty comcast cable and internet. I got rid of everything, kept the internet and it's down to like 59 bucks or something. Still too much, but till I find a cheaper internet alternative it's fine.I love the fact you can stream youtube through it, am digging some of the 'hidden' channels or whatever you call them. Pretty awesome little device.

Pretty awesome little device.I have at&t DSL for internet. The 'primo' 6Mbit down/3Mbit up. Perhaps not as fast as cable, but consistent. It was a $20/month promo thing. It just went up to $40 (as they said it would), I called and complained, it went back down to $20. Pleased.Nice

bumping this one for what I hope is a simple question. first some background:I don't watch movies. Don't like 'em and don't have the time to waste sitting on my backside. I do watch some live sports. I don't watch series TV like Mad Men or any of the other serialized comedy or drama stuff people here are yakking about. Not interested for myself 'cause I got better things to do. I got a kid who thinks life is over if she can't watch reruns of crap like George Lopez or some Dinsey shit. And I got a wife who does like B&W classic movies and some serialized shows.so this Roku thing? I can get one and just hook it up BEFORE I tell Comcast cable to jump in the lake, right? And I can do it on our old non-HDTV to check it out BEFORE I get a modern TV, right? I'd be hooking it to our current Comcast internet connection, which I don't think we're going to ditch.Have mercy on me, for I am Luddite. I record on tape and use manual woodworking tools...
