Yes just last night and it was underwhelming.
They really fuck up a great Quixotic song on there.

I've got it. It's been getting some heavy rotation lately.
Is it AMAZING? No. Far from it, actually. They absolutely RUIN Devo and the Minutemen. RUIN.
Most of the other songs (Melanie, Richard Thompson, etc) are sub-par at best.
But the covers of Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Quix*o*tic and Milton Nascimento are stellar.
Albums like these have "DOWNLOAD ME" written all over them.
It's an interesting listen.

I noticed yesterday that Bonnie Prince Billy is doing a tour of Scotland. That is just excellent in itself, but then looking through the dates to see which would be the nearest to me (ie. close to the border) I noticed that one of the dates is at 'The Sage, Gateshead, Scotland'. I understand that the north of England has been annexed at various times by the Scots during the many years of strife on our fair isle, and with Billy being a Bonnie Prince perhaps he is following in the footsteps of his forebear Charlie and flying the flag for Caledonia even beyond the current fashionable limits of the lowlands. I emailed his website with the simple message: "Gateshead is in England." The reply came back a little while later: "The exception proves the rule."
I pledge allegiance to the noble cause.

Crap.
Waffling Factor: 0/10.
This is very first time I've ever used an emoticon and I had to use two.
Apart from this guy, who seemingly has to take on different names every few years to trick me into buying another one of his fucking records, I love all manner of Louisville musicians.
And I say "trick me" because he sounds very impressive in short intervals when he's not singing about his sex life (I demand
my right to
his privacy).

TITS! One of the best records I've bought for ages. And it sounds really really nice on
vinyl. I like!

ooh! ooh! I was at a bar in Chicago with my British friend, James and Will Oldham walked in. James said to me: "'ello, that's Will Oldham." and I said to him: "Yep."
(isn't that a good 3832nd post?)
[weeps into hands and thinks about how much "real time" that means]

So I was up all night writing and it occured to me that Superwolf is the best record Will Oldham's ever released (best album art too).
Of course, I'm a little bit biased as I am an avowed Chavez fanboy but listen to those solos at the end of "Goat and Ram." You might be tempted to think "hey, that does not belong on a Will Oldham record," but then you would be wrong.
Does anyone know if the Oldham/Sweeney collaboration is set to continue? I hope so.

NOT CRAP, but:
-the album I See a Darkness is rather boring. I think it's reputation is mostly anchored by the amazing title track.
-I'm not a fan of the whole Harmony Korine/heroin-addict atmosphere.
-I definately second the distaste for his sexually explicit stuff. It's just uncomfortable.
I'm not a huge fan, but I can't call him CRAP.
