51Here's hoping Steve eviscerates Hoagy Carmichael next.

I wrote this 19 months ago, I felt it 19 years ago, and I still feel the same today.Frankie99 wrote: Sun Jul 25, 2021 6:14 pm No use for this nonsense. Turning 40 doesn’t mean shit. Life is too short for Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Buffett, the Dead….the list is long, and this terrible band is a bold entry at the top of it.
I can appreciate SD. As for the comments section, I'm not n Twitter, but this first one on IG made me laugh.RyanZ wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:29 am I don't mind Steely Dan. I also don't mind Steve lighting them up. IMO, he went easy on them. All the riled up replies from fans of The Dan on Twitter are hilarious, and getting me through my morning.
Several months ago, a friend sent me an article in which one of the Dan guys told the story behind this song. It’s about . . . giving a woman named Rikki his number at a party. She was some kind of artist.Wood Goblin wrote: Sun Jul 25, 2021 1:35 pmIn the old thread about the Dan, several people argued about what the lyrics meant in “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number.” Nobody could agree on anything except that the subject (whatever it was) was secretly dirty and depraved.octoberallover wrote: Sun Jul 25, 2021 1:31 pmlol!
Few things online irritate me more rn than the pleasure some Dan fans take in themselves for “getting it.” Probably because I wish I did too. Smooth jazz + singing about problems only the enormously selfish and callous create for themselves?? Don’t like it. Seems like music that starts to appeal after you’ve grown comfortable with defeat.
I'm probably the last person my age to watch The Sopranos, but I felt a similar way: this is what Millennials and Gen Zers spent their lockdowns watching!? The most progressive generation(s) in history like to wallow in the mud on their free time I suppose. At least the catchy music of the Dan can be detached from the degenerate content..The Classical wrote: Their meme-fication over the last few yrs has been a bit odd, esp given the tenor of the times, for the internet to throw its weight behind popular music's most pro-human trafficking & pederast sympathizers. But what do I know.
