Apparently he's a massive tory which is obviously a negative. I don't know much about that because I was never invested enough to look into it, chances are he was trying to protect his wealth which is what leads many people to the dark side.
Absolutely. At some point, all our (not mine) favorite successful musicians become generic rich people with the drive to protect their class interests and all that entails. They should all be held to account and made to feel embarrassed by it at a minimum.

He is probably less of a jerk than Gabriel.
Can you expand on this?
of course he can't. Peter Gabriel is an artist, he surely rubbed a few people wrong in his pursuit of whatever muse he was chasing.

Phil Collins is a hack who pursued his muse straight to a Disney soundtrack, which just so happened to be where the money was too. What a coincidence!

Sandpaper voice. CRAP

I've always fucked with "Against All Odds," "I Wish It Would Rain Down," "Easy Lover," and recently watched a live Genesis performance I thought was cool, but can't remember which one. Never really listened to Genesis. He was handsome in the 70's - tiny, beardy. Had an ex who strikingly bore an 80's resemblance . Feeling generous. Not crap.

He claimed on "Room 101" that he doesn't vote Tory. He also phoned the Melody Maker offices after writer David Stubbs had a go at him under the guise of his "Mr Agreeable" charcater - not to object to anything that had been written about his music, but to say "Tell Mr. Agreeable that I'm not a Tory". Make of that what you will, but I reckon it suggests something that he cared more about his politics being misrepresented than having his music slagged to ribbons. Or maybe it just means he's a Reform UK voter, in which case fuck him.

Anyway, Crap. Waffles for drumming on two Eno albums, playing with John Martyn's touring band around the time of "One World", for "Turn it on Again", which I like in spite of itself.

Name me another pop star who used his platform to lure a killer to one of his shows, call him out for his misdeed and have him arrested, all from the stage, while performing.

It’s an old urban legend about Collins.
