Bunch of old curmudgeons, I love it (and agree with about 95% of all these)!
The Velvet Underground is the most overrated pretentious bullshit music unleashed upon the world in the last 120 years. That's why nobody gave two fucks about them for two decades until equally boring bands started lauding them as a major influence in the 80s. Basically a no-musicianship Zappa for the junkie east-coast pop-art flunkie set and poseur New Yorkers.

52So good!jason from volo wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 4:10 pm In high school, before I knew of VU, my first band wrote a very awful two-chord song in A major called "Chains, Whips, and Naked Chicks".
Five years later, when a friend introduced me to VU (I was ignorant to them up to that point), I realized we had plagiarized VU without knowing it.
Listening to strung-out people play, let alone randomly fuck around, is no fun. Even Charlie Parker and Coltrane played way better when they were clean....reminds me at times of a bunch of high school band geeks fucking around with instruments that they don't know how to play; particularly their first album or two.

53I’m not a huge fan of opera, but when it’s great, it’s really something.Curry Pervert wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 2:56 pm Opera is painful to listen to and people who claim to like it are attempting to gentrify their frontal lobes to impress other people of a similar disposition. They would all be better off with a lobotomy performed with a cheese grater.
I mean, this:

55The Wire had some dialogue written by people who had never seen "the street" in any way.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

57Agreed, but add Gray Matter, Three, Ignition, and Fire Party.
