I would like to hear what you think of it, they’re pretty interesting!
Visiting my brother interstate, flew in with carryon only, return ticket includes a suitcase. Let’s have a quick look at Gumtree. Half a day later I have this Esquire branded 70s beauty, for about $A100 or $65. Short scale, bolt neck, early 1970s, same as the Ibanez EB3s of the period (and same factory). Needs work but DAMN. Plays good.

That's a great find. a US airline would have smashed it to bits on purpose.

Let’s find out, I fly back today (with this and another wrapped neck-off in an old suitcase).

Ooh I had not noticed the chicanery with the fretboard dots! These things are pretty bonkers.

I have heard that the Rascal bass is kind of a neck dive monster, so interested to see what the reviews are. The bridge and neck are more forward positioned compared to a Musicmaster or Mustang bass.

For one moment, I thought it was heavy in the neck when I first put it on. Then it was fine. Great balance, and it doesn't feel like you're fighting the neck at all. For a short scale it looks larger than expected. Plays nicely. For neck dive issues, it might just be down to individual styles of slippery straps/satin shirts/playing style/body type. Pleased so far!
