Fuck.

All my best to all of you, and those close to him.

I was just a satellite orbiting this community for a brief while, before the gravity of life pulled me away.
But my time here, and with those of you I got to meet irl, meant a lot.
Besides all the greatness he brought to so much of the music I love, Ill always be thankful for the community that Steve was (and all you were!) able to nurture.

Thanks.

this is such an unfathomable loss. I haven’t posted here in a long time but I keep tabs. everything I know about recording and ethics in art is from Steve Albini. he was my single greatest mentor and I never even worked directly with him. The absolute wealth of information that he happily and eagerly gave out completely free is spectacular and im sure he has been such a valuable mentor to hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands of people. I plan on stopping outside of electrical today to pay my respects.

I still feel dazed and stung. Haven't felt this regarding someone I was a fan of but didn't know personally. I can't imagine the loss of those close to him.

I'm so grateful for so much of his work and ideas, but especially for all the amazing refractions that have spread out and fostered amazing spaces, connections, and music. This forum stands out in that respect. I'm deeply grateful for you all.

I'm so sorry for everyone's loss. Let's all try and step up our games.

I had just watched the latest EA gear video.

CRAP

All my love to Heather and the rest of his family and closest friends.

I am grateful to have known him and for the time he gave me and for teaching me how to lose big at poker. I have been a huge fan of his music since I was 14 years old and always admired his intellect and point of view. In no way were we close, but we were friends and we could make each other laugh and hosted each other at our homes and shared a few meals. He saw my old band the gersch at the PRFBBQ2013 and complimented our performance, and if you knew him you know how special that was and how much it tickled me. I am also grateful for the music he helped make that inspired me so long ago, and keeps inspiring me up to the present day.

RIP Comrade Uncle FM "steve". The mark you left on my life is permanent and I wouldn't want it any other way. Maybe I will see you on the other side someday, Salut!
