I don't know what else to say besides "well... shit, that sucks."

My thoughts as well. When the heartbreak settles this community should do what we’ve always done and get together and make something special happen to commemorate someone that was perfectly described as a good man.

Totally shocked and saddened. So many greats are leaving us with a world of app-driven mediocrity. Real sad to hear this news.

Fuck.

All my best to all of you, and those close to him.

I was just a satellite orbiting this community for a brief while, before the gravity of life pulled me away.
But my time here, and with those of you I got to meet irl, meant a lot.
Besides all the greatness he brought to so much of the music I love, Ill always be thankful for the community that Steve was (and all you were!) able to nurture.

Thanks.

this is such an unfathomable loss. I haven’t posted here in a long time but I keep tabs. everything I know about recording and ethics in art is from Steve Albini. he was my single greatest mentor and I never even worked directly with him. The absolute wealth of information that he happily and eagerly gave out completely free is spectacular and im sure he has been such a valuable mentor to hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands of people. I plan on stopping outside of electrical today to pay my respects.

I'm shocked and gutted. I thought of him as a force of nature and it somehow doesn't seem real that he could actually die.

My thoughts are with his friends and family.

I still feel dazed and stung. Haven't felt this regarding someone I was a fan of but didn't know personally. I can't imagine the loss of those close to him.

I'm so grateful for so much of his work and ideas, but especially for all the amazing refractions that have spread out and fostered amazing spaces, connections, and music. This forum stands out in that respect. I'm deeply grateful for you all.

I'm so sorry for everyone's loss. Let's all try and step up our games.

I had just watched the latest EA gear video.

Just popping back here after a long absence to pay my respects. Awful, awful news. Really a meaningful life.
