When I rubberneck at those websites, I end up feeling like I want to puke.

I appreciate this response.

I also appreciate the fact that our discussion and pursuit of clarification did not involve the phrase "no probs".

probs?
Why do you make it so scary to post here.

Some of the responses in this thread have been appalling.

Anti-gay marriage initiatives were deliberately placed on the ballot in many states during our last fake Presidential election, to give intolerant fucktards extra incentive to vote. All of these anti-gay marriage initiatives passed by a resounding margin.

The message? You gay people aren't "like everyone else." You don't deserve the rights everyone else is entitled to.

Imagine if, in the country you lived in, paid taxes in, contributed to the economy of...imagine if it were illegal for you to marry the person you loved.
Wtf? Why can't people see how completely discriminatory and unacceptable this is?

Oakland's proposed "gay district" is economically motivated. They (or more specifically, the city council member representing this district) want the clean, disposable income-spending, expensive condo-buying demographic, and the retail that comes along with it. I live right in the area of the proposed district, and other than some rainbow flags, nothing is happening.

The rationale for failing to allow gay marriage is simple.

If we allow men to marry men and women to marry women, then Saddam Hussein will personally coordinate a terrorist attack against the United States.

Again.

Also higher taxes, activist judges, states' rights (except Florida vote counts!), the Ten Commandments in a court house, and you'll have to pry this gun out of my cold, dead hands, pinko.

I think part of the problem in realizing the gayness of Chicagay is the stereotype of the fit gay man. You won't find many of those in Chicagay. Our fair city is populated mainly by the (to use the proper ethnographic word) "bear" type. You know, chubby, hairy, and gay. There are all sorts of gay people. Heck, even our football team is indicative of this phenomenon.

Angus, I'm OK with your gayness. If you want to be treated like a human being, come out to Chicago. I'm in a band that makes Irish film music. A few of my songs have actually been used in films made in Ireland. Our pennywhistle player just blew town, so we could sure use some help!

that's not the crux of the biscuit...

It's whether Chicago is the new gay Mecca or not.

I completely accept and approve of people being gay. It's a biological fact, and they should have the same rights as anyone else.

But the fact is, Chicago is attracting a lot of gay people. Especially from the South... I know a few gay people who have moved here from Louisiana recently.

It shows that we (or maybe I and a lot of us) live in a cool ass city with a great nu metal scene.
