What do you mean?

they took the same tracks and put them in a different order. and tacked some live and demo shit on the end.

i liked the old order better.

They did that because the old order was a mistake by their label when it was originally released. They flipped sides 1 & 2 around. The CD reish with the bonus tracks uses the track listing CT originally wanted. That said, it throws me off every time, I'm used to the "wrong" way.

I do like some of the bonus tracks. "I Dig Go-Go Girls" is one of the crazier songs I've ever heard. Just ridiculous.

True that.

My pal Ron interviewed Bun E. for OnMilwaukee.com a few days ago. It should be a pretty interesting interview, most likely it will show up early March when they play here.

I started with "Live at Budokan," and when I heard the studio versions of those songs later, they sounded kind of lifeless by comparison. Not bad, just kind of lifeless.

Did that happen to anybody else?

That's right, I said "Dream Police".

Hell, the whole Dream Police album is pretty good.

I went kinda backwards, I got to know the first 3 studio albums before Budokan, so I had the reverse effect of really digging the songs, followed by having the live versions explode me.

Either way, no one should escape Cheap Trick, nor should they want to.

I'd start with these, if you like, get Heaven Tonight.

I second this recommendation.

I love these records, and I love Heaven Tonight.

But if I wanted to convince someone very quickly of CT's greatness, I would play them the Samurai Rock Band bootleg.

They show up on eBay--one there right now.

It's worth every penny you pay for it, and it's as good a place to start as any.
