did i miss much? i just don't like that venue...
Yeah, £10 is alot, considering I saw it advertised as £7.50.
I reckon it was above 36 centigrade in there, anyway the heat was pretty nasty. The view was quite restricted by the pillars too. The music was good but the venue was like the Black Hole of Calcutta.
Even if they put a 20cm riser for the stage it would make a big difference. As far as the heat goes... The lack of air-con in this country is an endless source of wonder for me.
36 centigrade, thats like....REAL hot, right? Oh! "Black Hole of Calcutta"-hot. Thank god I don't have to do the math.
I had to do at least three grossly uneducated conversions/estimations to understand these criticisms. Now I know how you metric folks feel when us yanks chatter away about bushels, hogsheads, and furlongs.
I think Battles are boring, but I would never call what they're doing CRAP. Although, they need to make with a full-length and not just these scattershot EPs.

Yeah for all you yanks still using the Limey Imperial system -like you ever really got your independence!- that's around 90F.
For my next trick I'll explain why basing an entire measurement system on the King of England’s appendages is not a good idea...

Okay, I just heard their EPs for the first time this weekend.
Wow.
Who recorded them? The drums are killing me.

Stanier's playing is almost impossible to fuck up because he hits the drums so fucking hard.
Not sure about the engineer... people?
Have I mentioned just how much I love Stanier's drumming before?

Oh, the same guy that recorded Puffy Daddy's "Da Band", and Loon, and Mary J. Blige...
Weird.
Those EPs sound fantastic, though...

Bump.
New album due May 15th.
New Battles single due April 2nd, "Atlas", can be heard on Pitchfork
here.
I think that's a great song. Ballsy and weird with the chipmunk vocals, but holy crap it's catchy.
Looking forward to the album now. Hope they tour again too, they're ace live.

Yeah, that's pretty great.
I wonder if it'll stand a few plays. First play and it's pretty great.

The new album is kind of annoying.
Reminds me of Animal Collective if Animal Collective had more than one drumbeat in their repertoire.
To say that I'm not disappointed in this record doesn't surprise me because I kind of expected it to be bad.
