Really depends on the situation. I 'dated' someone once w/ a kid, but after getting to know her more, it was immediately obvious that it wasn't going to work out, kid or no kid. Her favorite band being Matchbox 20 and an unhealthy obsession w/ Rob Thomas did not help things any.

My first girlfriend had more baggage than anyone I've known, and there were no kids involved there.

It definitely relies on how much you like the person and the commitment yr willing to put in. How much you like the little brat (or kids in general) might factor in as well. Maturity plays a big role, because I know 3-5 years ago this wouldn't even be an issue. Also: is the ex still in the picture, a meatball and verbally/physically abusive? If so, you might want to reconsider all of the above, should he decide to put you through a wall.

It's fine, I didn't represent myself very well. This is hard to convey, but I'll dig further, er, try.

Referring to you children as your kids: Not Crap
Saying, "You're a good kid": Not Crap
Saying, "Hey, he's just a kid! Don't fart so close to him!": Not Crap
Saying, "Yeah, I feed my kid that stuff, too!": Crap, but with high waffles because feeding your children is good.

It just always sounds a little dehumanizing to me. *This does not mean you love your child any less* "My son", "daughter", or "herm" just sounds cheerier. Sorry. Two kids, ages 1 and 4.

Also, to A_D: Sorry to keep quoting you lately. It's my first beard. Plus, I just had three bautwursts. On rye rolls!
