Dating someone with a kid

Really depends on the situation. I 'dated' someone once w/ a kid, but after getting to know her more, it was immediately obvious that it wasn't going to work out, kid or no kid. Her favorite band being Matchbox 20 and an unhealthy obsession w/ Rob Thomas did not help things any.
My first girlfriend had more baggage than anyone I've known, and there were no kids involved there.
It definitely relies on how much you like the person and the commitment yr willing to put in. How much you like the little brat (or kids in general) might factor in as well. Maturity plays a big role, because I know 3-5 years ago this wouldn't even be an issue. Also: is the ex still in the picture, a meatball and verbally/physically abusive? If so, you might want to reconsider all of the above, should he decide to put you through a wall.
