Thanks for the heads-up. I've been starved for info.

Judge sentenced eight years out of a maximum ten. He said that it was not appropriate for them to run consecutively, so the three counts will run concurrently.

She'll also get day-for-day good behavior credit, which means she can be out in four years. She's already served over 2.5 years (865 days) so could be out in 1.5 years. :-(

The statements from the three in-person witnesses (Tim Midgett and Doug's widow and brother, if I recall) were beautiful. Sliwinski didn't seem to move the entire time, and she tearfully claimed responsibility and sorrow for everything that she did at her final statement.

I'm not sure what I was hoping for, but this sure doesn't feel like it. At least he didn't sentence her to time served and let her walk out a free woman.

This is a really sad example of our legal system in this country.

Possession of crack cocaine assures you of more jail time than the act of willfully taking three lives.

My heart goes out to all involved.

[wtf.]

John's widow, Rebecca Crawford. Doug's brother, Scott Meis.

She will be out in 1.5 years. She could be out substantially earlier (6 months) with "good behavior".

I am disturbed by this - more darkly and unsettlingly than I could have anticipated.

I am...angry is not the correct word here.

I need to look in the thesaurus.

I'm appalled. Maybe you are, too.
