Two threads would be silly. You'd have to go to the other one to get the counter-argument.Garth wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2024 9:42 amYou guys good w/ me changing the title of this thread to include JMP? Or should it be a separate thread?jirbling rake wrote: JMP (Justify My Purchase)

543Seems expensive to me. New ones in the UK can be had for £333 which converts to about $422.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2024 8:27 am A guy I know is selling an OG Shure SM7 for $500. Good condition
Looks like an ok price for a cash deal… should I? I need another mic right now like I need another hole in my head but it’d be cool to have for a while and pass on later.
Unless you're looking for some 'vintage mojo' in which case, I can't help you.

Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
544I think those are SM7B’s, I am asking about the SM7, which goes for something around $700 these days. The point of going vintage a lot of times is just a stronger resale value.
Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
545There's a pretty distinct sound difference between the SM7 & SM7B. The SM7 is a bit brighter with less mids. Sounds closer to a condenser.

546Aye, fair enough.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2024 11:54 am I think those are SM7B’s, I am asking about the SM7, which goes for something around $700 these days. The point of going vintage a lot of times is just a stronger resale value.

547Left out a detail: this is a less common brand that doesn't pop up that often. That makes the consecutive serial numbers even more interesting.jirbling rake wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:06 pm For the judges: a guitar has come up for sale that is one serial number up from a guitar I own. Same make and model, same color—basically its sibling.
This second guitar has a few minor mods, but still is a match. I don’t need another guitar, but it’s hard to resist owning guitars consecutively numbered.

548I don't know man that seems like a lot for a dynamic. Maybe a used Sennheiser MD 441 for around that price, sure.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2024 8:27 am A guy I know is selling an OG Shure SM7 for $500. Good condition

Re: Gear talk: TALK ME OUT OF IT
549why do you need another basically identical guitar? you already said you don't need another guitar. you surely don't need another guitar that doesn't do anything different from what you already have. Are you a guitar collector? Is it a Travis Bean or a Veleno? NO? Then who cares?jirbling rake wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 2:03 pmLeft out a detail: this is a less common brand that doesn't pop up that often. how's that for talking you out of it?
Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
550^^^^ Gotta agree. I'm all for siblings, I'm a big fan of the buddy system, I have two (at least) of everything I like, but two of the exact same thing in the exact same color? Nah.
Consecutive serials are cool, but are they really worth X dollars to you?
