Very well then. I'll leave you guys to it. Instead, I'll get back to my Robert Plant voodoo doll.

An Athens-Clarke police officer was stable three days after a man nearly stabbed her to death while she worked a security side job at a local supermarket.

Sgt. Courtney Gale - who suffered 10 stab wounds, one that severed her femoral artery - remained in critical condition as of Friday evening, however, and she faces a very long road to recovery, co-workers and friends said.

Fellow officers and friends have set up a bank account in Gale's name and organized a fundraising bike ride to help her through coming challenges.

"If Courtney is able to come back to work, it will be at least a year, and that's a long time when you consider worker's comp will only cover a percentage" of her salary, Athens-Clarke police Detective Beverly Russell said.

Congratulations!

I just completed my 5th 12hr shift in a row wrapping chipolatas in bacon.

I don't know if I'll go back next week, but bills don't pay themselves.

That is great that she is stable.

I also think it is an amazing thing you guys are doing, setting up a bank account and such.

Detail from my day:

I am the first to admit my apartment is a mess. It's cluttered and I use what space I have pretty poorly - which is amplified by the fact that the shelving "solution" I opted for when I moved in was only suited for the short-term, since I never imagined I would still be here 10 years on.

Coupled with working like an insane person, getting stuff organized around here is difficult.

The other night, my next-door neighbor invited me into his apartment because he had "cleaned up."

My place looks like a palace compared to his. At least my kitchen has been mopped and cleaned in the past 10 years, more than once.

I was thoroughly disgusted.

I also immediately felt better about my place. While it is cluttered, it is not filthy.

Needless to say, even before I saw his place, I had planned to use my days off over winter break to get this place in shape. I am going to double my efforts now.

I had the terrible misfortune of choosing classes that, combined, saddled me with an extraordinary finals schedule. All of teachers assigned long essay projects, and I have never worked so much in such a short amount of time before... ever.

Since last Saturday, I have written over 25,000 words. This is an astronomical amount of words. For some reason, I learned to type without the use of the smallest finger on my left hand. It sits at a strange angle when I type. It has gotten steadily more sore as the week has worn on. I want it amputated. I want to cry.

I have spent the past seven days in a vicious cycle where I work for approximately 18 hours at the library (my own desktop has some terrible virus that I acquired from trying to download that fucking "two girls, one cup" video), then walk back to my apartment to sleep for 8 hours, then return to the library to work for another 18, and so on. I have seen very little daylight during this time. I have had very little company in this computer lab. I am exhausted, frustrated, and extremely proud of myself.

I have about 20 odd pages left to write, the last of which are due Monday at midnight. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I have been fighting off the feeling that I am at the breaking point since yesterday. When I get up to go to the drinking fountain and when I pause during typing, my body shakes. I have been taking one Walgreen's brand "Stay Awake" caffeine tablet every hour or so for the last 6 hours. I have been here since 5:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Please rescue me.

I'm currently struggling to write a piddling 3000 worder. Salut! prolific academic.
