Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
561I'm like 3 days away from just pulling the trigger on a pair of Adam A7V's or Focal Shape 65's. Talk me out of one or the other.
I can't talk you out of getting A7V'sKniferide wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2024 9:27 pm I'm like 3 days away from just pulling the trigger on a pair of Adam A7V's or Focal Shape 65's. Talk me out of one or the other.
Yes but that doesn't mean you would have to use it. I wouldn't.
I get it, I just wonder how much that stuff factors into the price.Mickey242 wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 7:25 pmYes but that doesn't mean you would have to use it. I wouldn't.
I wont be using the built in room correction I wish they made a zero DSP version that was a little cheaper, but they don't. It's been a race between these, the Focal Shape 65, and the Neumann KH120 and I'm upgrading from Adam T7V's (left side keeps turning off for no reason) so I figured I'd just go with the Adams. I know they are silly expensive, but its sort of a Treat Myself moment that I've saved up for over the last year, and since I've been completely done buying guitars and amps, probably forever, its a thing to spend fliff on. I've been fighting with monitors for the last few years (one speaker or the other dying, sound weird in my tiny space, just cheap bad monitors) so I'm just going for it.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 7:29 pmI get it, I just wonder how much that stuff factors into the price.Mickey242 wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 7:25 pmYes but that doesn't mean you would have to use it. Man I just cannot decide between the two. Low end is an issue in my room cause its like 9X8" so the passive radiators might be helpful. On the other hand, I've always really liked the Adam mid/highs and have read a few things about unreliable auto On of the Focals. The Focals do look a hell of a lot better though. Adams look like a Gi Joe ninja suit.
The auto on is no problem with the Focals. Maybe there are lemons out there, but I think their qc is pretty good. Not a ton of lows on them. I can hear what the kick and bass guitar are doing but real sub, synth type stuff is a little more guess work/ counting on mastering to cover my ass.Kniferide wrote: Wed Mar 27, 2024 6:15 pmMan I just cannot decide between the two.
